The Archangel of Creation could really have any kind of music in his soundtrack since composition is an inherently creative act. Unfortunately, this isn’t particularly helpful when building a gaming soundtrack – especially if you want a song to clue your players into what’s happening.
To me, this means that Eli’s soundtrack should be picked out by process of elimination. Any type of music would work, so figure out what you use for the other Superiors, then give Eli something different.
Possible Genres for Eli
- Zoroastrian Prayer
Since each game will likely pick a different genre for Eli, I couldn’t really follow that advice for my own list. Instead I’ve put together a mix of songs about love, genesis, crafting, life, and Eli taken from several different genres.
Eli Eli (Hannah Szenes)
What’s He Building In There – Tom Waits
Yasna 37 (Zoroastrian Prayer)
S i ‘bheart a rinn mo shàrachadh (Gaelic Weaving Song)
Gaelic Waulking Song
Volver (Carlos Gardel)
Do You Want to Build a Snowman (Frozen Soundtrack)
Don’t Go (The Dualers)
In The Beginning (Genesis)
Eli’s Song (John Denver)
Bring me to Life (Evanescence)
Romance de la Boda Estorbada (Spanish Carding Song)
Po’ Lazarus (James Carter)
Psalm 104 (Yamma Ensemble)
A raiz do toxo verde (Galician Flax Beating Song)
Lechaim (Fiddler on the Roof)
Psalm 8 (Richard Smallwood)
Beatus Vir (Vivaldi)
Eli, Eli (Grigory Esayan)
What songs or genres would you use for Eli? I’m always curious to see other enthusiast’s playlists.
