Auntie Lavender is one of those angels to seek when you want to know what’s going on in town. During the day he can usually be found painting or gardening in his signature lilac overalls… or at least his friends always seem to be able to find him that way. No so much his creditors. At night Auntie Lavender tends to go dancing and clubbing with friends (unless there is a major political function to observe). Continue reading
Yves‘ Ivory Council is arguably the most influential deliberative body in heaven after the Seraphim Council itself. The Council is typically divided into three parts: The Division of Corporeal Affairs, The Division of Ethereal Affairs, and The Division of Celestial Affairs. However, plenary sessions are not unheard of.
While the Ivory Council has no direct authority, their debates inform Destiny and the Chair of each Division is an ex-officio member of the Seraphim Council.
One of the Ofanim just blew into town. She has three days to organize, promote, and host a rocking, raucous trick-shot tournament and she wants the party to help.
She’s hoping to catch Hasmed’s attention so she can study under them – and her resonance has said this is the time and place to do it.
“Beauty is only skin deep, that’s what makes it beautiful.”
Druxy is a spook and a fixer. Although she has her fingers on the pulse of whatever city she’s in, she is rarely seen dirtying her own hands. Continue reading
Ohad is an enforcer and Project Manager for Vapula’s Department of Ontological Sciences. Rather than researching or classifying, Ohad and his task force work on tracking down outliers and forcing them to either comply or be destroyed.
This mission has often lead Ohad and his team to collaborate with Asmodeus in tracking down Outcasts and Renegades who claim to hold loyalty to neither heaven nor hell. Continue reading
There are two main parts to every In Nomine NPC: motivation and stats
Motivations are hard to generate randomly (and tend to involve large and mostly arbitrary charts). I don’t really advocate for that approach.
Take the time between sessions to build about a dozen personality profiles. Include likely results for Seraphim, Elohim, Habbalah, Malakite, Lilim, and Mercurian resonance. You may not be able to predict whether or not you’re going to need a “baker” or a “lawyer” but you will eventually need someone. Once you know who your PCs are approaching, pick the personality profile that fits best and start adding stats. Continue reading
Iris has always been a goddess of the rainbow and a courier for the Olympian gods – and since Hermies went incommunicado her role as messenger has become even more important. She also serves as a cup bearer for the leader of the pantheon (currently Athena) and is known to also run messages for her parents Thaumas and Elektra (spirits of the sea and clouds respectively). An ensemble consisting of some 80+ Calabim, Servitors of Belial, and Orphans of Abbadon have grown tired of waiting for the end times and have poured out into the streets of New York (or other suitable major metropolis).
At first blush, it may seem they are just destroying as much as they can before they themselves are destroyed – but those who listen more closely may realize that they aren’t just disturbing the Symphony at random; they are corrupting it (at least locally) into a rock opera – one that might just wake Abbadon.
I feel like I’ve done a rather poor job of introducing new magical items. Liber Reliquarum really does do a fantastic job of explaining how to go about creating and balancing new items. But, of course, knowing which items to introduce can itself be a bit of a challenge.
I figured the best way to break my fast on this topic was with, well, you know… Continue reading
While it easy to come up with theoretical circumstances when the Healing skill would be more useful than the Song of Healing – they don’t generally come up in the course of play.
This is not a unique problem to In Nomine – just about any game with both mundane and mystical healing needs to confront the power imbalance between the two. I personally tend to be a fan of system where the mystical healing enhances mundane healing as this allows the two abilities to stack. Continue reading
