I’ll be the first to tell you that nothing is more boring than a +1 longsword or that humor based artifacts are a bad idea in anything other than a humor driven campaign. And yet I’m a sucker for puns. Here are three new Artifacts that are all in the mind. Feel free to use them (or not) as suits your campaign. Continue reading
I feel like I’ve done a rather poor job of introducing new magical items. Liber Reliquarum really does do a fantastic job of explaining how to go about creating and balancing new items. But, of course, knowing which items to introduce can itself be a bit of a challenge.
I figured the best way to break my fast on this topic was with, well, you know… Continue reading
Duorktael is a powerful but subtle angel who maintains the Symphony’s underlying tempo at 94 beats per minute. By aligning the Symphony with humanity’s indifference point, she has been able to ensure that the minor acts of creation and correction that occur every day feel right and natural to the world at large. Given how rich a world Steve Jackson created for In Nomine, I am consistently surprised by how few actual options there are for Resources. In this post will list out several categories of Resource I think should be part of the game, and whether or not they are.
This might (in turn) help inform whether or not there should be more Character Points awarded at character creation (but that would be an exercise for a future post). Continue reading

The Bifrons Mirror appears to hold something of his magic. Continue reading
Creatures of the Cthulhu Mythos and those who serve them are well known for using Eldrich song variants. Some others may have learned them as well, but Superiors of both sides discourage their use – the melodies they introduce to the Symphony make it easier for the Outer Gods to infiltrate reality.
These songs use Celestial Forces but also have a tendency to induce madness (in the form of Dissonance and Discord). As with all songs, knowing one variation increases the CD of all other variants by 1.
Two years ago I used The Darkest Dungeon as an example of an inescapable eldritch horror setting. If you’re actually thinking of running a campaign in this world, your angels and demons will need a way to fit into the estate. Thankfully, Red Hook has already provided us with a number of potential Roles.
Here are the skills, resources, and discords I would require for someone to take on a Role from The Darkest Dungeon:
Earlier this month The Sun ran an article about a Philippine exorcist who had reported that fake crucifixes with satanic symbols were being given out in that country, and that they were causing nightmares and bad luck.
