They do a few things that In Nomine frequently restricts access to, so it is worth making sure they won’t disrupt your game before you introduce them. They are primarily concerned with discerning the value or quality of some thing.

Naming Angels of Faith & Protection

Khalid and Zadkiel are the only two canonically Muslim Archangels within the In Nomine setting, and many of the Islamic angel’s referenced in Gustav Davidson’s Dictionary of Angels could easily serve either superiors. Still this list emphasized the In Nomine archangel that I think each aligns with more closely.

Naming Angels of Dreams & Waters

I swear that it was not my intent to pair Superiors up when I started sorting Gustav Davidson’s Dictionary of Angels by In Nomine’s archangelic word. However, Jewish occultism names the Moon as the Angel of Dreams, and that’s where the vast majority of dream angels can be found. Of course, since the moon controls the tides, this means that any one of these lunar angels, could instead be an angel of Water.

Naming Angels of Destiny & Judgement

I really didn’t want to combine the angels of Destiny and Judgement when sorting the angels from Gustav Davidson’s Dictionary of Angels for use as character names for In Nomine. Unforunately, you really can’t easily divide them.

Naming Angels of Children & Creation

It’s time to continue our roster of angelic names plucked from the pages of Gustav Davidson’s Dictionary of Angels. I had originally intended to divide the Angels of Children and the Angels of Creation into two different posts, but this does not actually make sense. Childbirth is an inherently creative act, and every single angel associated with children from Davidson’s text gains that association through the fact that it is invoked during childbirth.

If you are using this list to find angelic names for In Nomine it’s worth considering that every name on this list that can be considered for a Servitor of Christopher can also be considered for a Servitor of Eli (though the reverse is not true).

Naming Angels of Animals

I recently stumbled across a digital copy of Gustav Davidson’s Dictionary of Angels, which has allowed me to do something I’ve wanted to for a long time, but which was not time-efficient with my physical copy. I have started going through that book and compiling all the angels aligned with In Nominie‘s archangelic Words. Many of these angel names do not already appear in canon, which makes them ideal names to raid for your own home stories.

This week we’re looking at the angels of animals.

Songs of the Hours

Since being accepted into the “family” of Hell, Kronos has had an almost obsessive interest in the passage of time. Whether the dark prince discovered these songs himself, or one of his servitors stumbled upon them while humming their way through on of the Prince of Fate’s journals is immaterial. They exist now. Kronos does try to keep something of a lid on them, but at the very least Asmodeus has learned them and Dominic may have gotten ahold of some copies as well.

Songs of Ridicule

When Kobal Fell, he got it into his head to modify the Songs of Charm. It took him a few more attempts than he would care to admit (and anyone who can get the score to one of his failures might end up producing some truly unexpected results), but the Songs of Ridicule were the versions he was satisfied with enough to teach to others.

Songs of Hardcore

Most Celestials favor songs with relatively small disturbances, so as to keep their presence discrete. Not Furfur, he likes the noise and his fingerprints are all over the newest Songs to have been pulled out of the Symphony.

The Songs of Burning

The Songs of Burning were not developed by Belial, but he will gladly take credit for them and few would challenge his claim. The Angels of Fire can also use this song to terrible effect, but few would because it is inherently cruel.
