In Nomine’s Lucifer is ineffable by design. Putting his character and abilities into words actually lessens him as a device for GMs. Thus, while this post is limiting itself to Lucifer before the Fall, it is still inherently a heretical piece as far as In Nomine canon is concerned.
Lucifer was the third angel created (after Yves and Michael), and was always something of a golden boy. He would head out into the unexplored darks and light the way for the Creation that would follow. Both Gabriel and Uriel can trace their lineage back to Lucifer (and by extension, so can Lawrence and Khalid).

Orc is the first Archangel in an an age to be recognized by the Seraphim council rather than elevated. Some even wonder if his ascent might not have been getting a nudge from another source. After all, he has accomplished in years something that has taken other capable angels centuries to accomplish. 
Before time was time, Jaami was the chief administrator of Heaven. Then Yves convinced the venerable angel to make way for the Metatron, During their tenure, Jaami helped heaven work as one, after sealing their own power and joining David’s ranks dissent was able to creep into heaven. This ultimately resulted in the betrayals of Lucifer, Ophis, and the Grigori. Recently Lawrence learned Jaami’s true identity, and after a particularly humiliating defeat he sought out the venerable Kyriotate and restored it’s full power.
The world is all alone in a vast void, give it what light and warmth you can.
Cassiel was once the head of the Elohim of Water. Though high in rank, the position received very little recognition. Oannes did not want pride to tempt his senior servitors into following the path of Vephar. As an elohite, Cassiel could comprehend the compassion and grief behind his mentor’s choice and never once begrudged the older angel his mourning.
