Neither Angel nor Demon knows quite what to make of Nyarlathotep. The malicious trickster god claims to be the agent of a pantheon of unfathomable deities that could rival the might of heaven and hell combined – and yet, as far as the agents of heaven can tell, it is the very actions of Nyarlathotep that create the gods and monsters it claims to serve.
Regardless of the being’s origin and allies, it’s power is clearly equal to that of any Superior. At the same time, it tends to prefer working through one of its thousands of avatars. Should you wish to set up Nyarlathotep as an antagonist, I would suggest starting with a fairly “mundane” aspect to begin with. Of course, each time Nyarlathotep is “killed” a new, more horrible form will emerge from its corpse until it is forced to reveal itself as a Superior. Continue reading
